Ingredients
  

For the Biscuits:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cold butter cut into cubes
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons milk for brushing

Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Step 3: Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Step 4: Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Step 5: Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll it to about 1 inch thick, and cut out biscuits.
  6. Step 6: Brush the tops of the biscuits with milk.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Freeze unbaked biscuits for up to 3 months for quick baking.
  • Brush with milk for a shiny, golden top.
