Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Wings - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix the chicken wings with baking powder and kosher salt, ensuring each wing is coated evenly.
  2. Step 2: Bake the Wings - Spread the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Step 3: Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the pineapple juice, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce. Stir until the sugar dissolves and bring to a simmer.
  4. Step 4: Thicken the Sauce - In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Slowly pour this into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously. Cook for a few more minutes until thickened to your desired consistency.
  5. Step 5: Toss the Wings - Once baked, transfer the wings to a large bowl. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over and toss until well coated. Return wings to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure wings are coated evenly with baking powder for crispiness.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by modifying the brown sugar.
