  1. Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients - Gather all your ingredients, grate the Gruyere cheese, chop the fresh dill, and zest the lemon.
  2. Step 2: Assemble the Sandwich - On one slice of bread, layer Gruyere cheese, smoked salmon, lemon zest, and dill, then top with another slice.
  3. Step 3: Butter the Bread - Spread butter on the outside of each sandwich for a golden crust.
  4. Step 4: Heat the Skillet - Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, coating the bottom evenly.
  5. Step 5: Cook the Sandwich - Cook the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • For a twist, substitute sourdough or multigrain bread.
  • Use aged cheddar or mozzarella instead of Gruyere for different flavors.
