Servings: 2 servings
Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Smoothie:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats or quick oats
  • 1 banana, chopped into chunks and frozen
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup plus additional to taste
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Ice (optional)

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Glass or mason jar

Method

Instructions:
  1. Gather all your ingredients. If you haven’t already frozen your banana, now is the time to slice it up and pop it in the freezer for at least a couple of hours.
  2. In your blender, add the oats, frozen banana chunks, almond milk, peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt.
  3. Blend on high speed until all the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you'd like a thicker consistency, add ice and blend again until the desired texture is reached.
  4. Give your smoothie a taste. If you prefer it sweeter, add a bit more maple syrup and blend again.
  5. Pour your Oatmeal Smoothie into a glass or mason jar. You can garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup on top for that extra flair!

Notes

  • For a nut-free option, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
  • Use certified gluten-free oats if you need a gluten-free smoothie.
  • Freeze individual servings in ice cube trays for quick future smoothies.
