Cooking Instructions:
- Start by gathering all your ingredients. Make sure the ground beef or turkey is thawed if it was frozen. Measure out your cheese, taco seasoning, diced tomatoes and green chiles, and water.
- In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add your ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the meat is cooked through, drain any excess grease if using beef. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat. Pour in the can of diced tomatoes and green chiles along with the water. Stir everything together to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 7-10 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- While the meat mixture is simmering, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In an oven-safe dish, spread half of the shredded Mexican cheese blend on the bottom.
- Once the meat mixture is ready, spoon it over the cheese layer. Top with the remaining cheese.
- Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with your favorite toppings like sour cream, avocado slices, or salsa.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add jalapeños to the meat mixture while it simmers.
- Try using ground chicken or plant-based meat alternatives for a different flavor profile.
- Feel free to customize your Low-Carb Keto Tacos with your favorite spices like cumin or paprika.
- Make it a taco night by offering a variety of toppings like olives, diced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce.
