Ingredients

For the Chicken Bites:
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil divided
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup chili crisp
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 green onions diced and thinly sliced

Equipment

  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Large Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

Stepwise Method:
  1. Start by cutting your chicken into bite-sized pieces, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss until well coated. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken bites in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway to ensure even browning.
  5. In a small bowl, combine chili crisp, honey, and 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Stir until well mixed.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, reduce the heat to low and pour the honey chili mixture over the chicken. Toss to combine and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is well coated.
  7. Remove from heat, and top with diced green onions before serving. Enjoy your Honey Chili Crisp Chicken Bites warm!

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, ensure the chili crisp is gluten-free or make your own!
  • Substitute honey with a low-carb sweetener for a low-carb version.
  • For a vegan option, use tofu or tempeh instead of chicken and maple syrup instead of honey.
