In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm tap water and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
Once the yeast is foamy, add the vegetable or canola oil to the mixture. Stir gently to combine.
Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing until a dough begins to form. Knead the dough slightly until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
Grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough inside, turning it to coat all sides. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out one portion of the dough to your desired thickness.
Grease your baking sheets or pizza stone with oil and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Place the rolled-out dough onto the prepared pan. Spread about 1 cup of pizza sauce over the dough, then sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by pepperoni and any additional toppings.
Brush the crust with melted butter and sprinkle with yellow cornmeal. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
