Gather all your ingredients to make the process smoother.
In your mixing bowl, add the 1 cup of real mayonnaise.
Mix in the 1/2 cup of dill pickle relish or finely chopped dill pickles. Stir thoroughly to combine.
Add in the 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh dill, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne pepper if desired.
