Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Take your boneless, skinless chicken breasts and place them between two sheets of plastic wrap. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken to about 1-inch thickness.
Sprinkle both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Spread a generous tablespoon of basil pesto on top of each chicken breast.
Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese over the pesto-covered chicken.
Place the chicken in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Once done, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
