Ingredients

For the Brownies:
  • 1 family size package Brownie Mix (13x9 size)
  • 1 cup Cooled Coffee (equal amount to water called for)
  • 1-2 tablespoons Hershey's Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Make sure your coffee is cooled to room temperature before you start mixing - hot coffee will alter the consistency of your batter.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your brownies will bake evenly and rise perfectly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix with the cooled coffee, following the measurements specified on the box. Stir in the cocoa powder and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in the dark chocolate chips to the brownie batter, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare your baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper for easy removal. Pour the brownie batter into the pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake according to the package instructions, usually about 30-35 minutes. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows them to set properly and makes cutting easier.

Notes

  • For a minty twist, add a few drops of mint extract to the batter.
  • Swirl in some peanut butter before baking for added richness.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.
