Ingredients

For the Waffles:
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Cornstarch
  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Milk (2% or whole)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ½ cup Melted butter or oil
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Waffle iron
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Preheat Your Waffle Iron. Start by preheating your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. This is crucial for achieving that crispy exterior.
  2. Step 2: Combine the Dry Ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, ½ cup of cornstarch, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients. In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of milk, 2 large eggs, ½ cup of melted butter or oil, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract until everything is well combined.
  4. Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
  5. Step 5: Cook the Waffles. Once your waffle iron is heated, lightly grease it with a little oil or non-stick spray. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the iron (usually about ¾ cup). Close the lid and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 4-6 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Enjoy Your Waffles! Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chocolate chips or blueberries to the batter.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat frozen waffles in a toaster for that crispy texture.
