Method

  1. Step 1: Gather Ingredients
Collect all your ingredients and kitchen gear. It’s always easier to have everything at hand when you start blending.
  2. Step 2: Blend the Base
In your blender, combine the frozen banana, almond or coconut milk, peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and ice cubes.
  3. Step 3: Blend Until Smooth
Blend on high until everything is well-combined and the mixture is creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure everything is incorporated.
  4. Step 4: Adjust Consistency
If your smoothie bowl is too thick, add a splash more almond or coconut milk. If it’s too thin, add more ice or frozen banana.
  5. Step 5: Serve & Top
Pour the smoothie mixture into your serving bowl and get creative with your toppings! Arrange banana slices, berries, shredded coconut, pepitas, chia seeds, flax seeds, peanuts, and mini chocolate chips or shaved dark chocolate on top.

Notes

  • Store any leftover smoothie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Stir well before consuming.
  • You can also freeze any leftover smoothie mixture in ice cube trays. Blend the cubes later with some milk for a quick smoothie on the go.
  • For best results, prepare the toppings fresh just before serving to maintain their texture and flavor.
