- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the whole milk, egg yolks, all-purpose flour, salt, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon sugar until well combined.
- Cut your Texas toast or crustless bread into thick strips, about 1-2 inches wide.
- In a frying pan, pour in enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat the oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
- Take each strip of bread and dip it into the custard mixture, ensuring that both sides are well-coated.
- Carefully place the coated bread strips into the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Once golden brown, use a spatula to remove the French toast sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels or a cooling rack.
