Ingredients

For the Wings:
  • 2 pounds chicken wings Fresh and meaty wings are best for optimal flavor and texture.
  • 1 cup Vegetable or canola oil For deep frying; both oils have high smoke points and neutral flavors.
  • 4 ounces butter Adds richness and helps the seasoning stick to the wings.
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning The star of the dish; choose a high-quality blend for the best results.
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest Enhances the lemon flavor and adds a fresh aroma.

Equipment

  • Deep Fryer or Large Pot
  • Thermometer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Wings. Start by rinsing the chicken wings under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Step 2: Heat the Oil. In a deep fryer or a large pot, pour enough vegetable or canola oil to submerge the wings. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Step 3: Fry the Wings. Carefully add the chicken wings in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Step 4: Drain and Cool. Remove the wings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  5. Step 5: Prepare the Lemon Pepper Sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the lemon pepper seasoning and grated lemon zest.
  6. Step 6: Toss the Wings. In a large mixing bowl, add the crispy chicken wings and pour the lemon pepper sauce over them. Toss until evenly coated.
  7. Step 7: Serve and Enjoy. Transfer the wings to a serving platter. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, consider baking the wings instead of frying them.
  • Add a dash of cayenne pepper to the sauce for extra heat.
  • Store leftover wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
