Ingredients

For the Salmon:
  • 1 to 2 pounds salmon cut into individual filets Fresh or thawed fillets work best.
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil This oil has a high smoke point and neutral flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Adjust to taste for seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika For a hint of smokiness and vibrant color.

Equipment

  • Broiler
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Spatula

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat the Broiler - Start by preheating your broiler. Set it to high and allow it to heat for about 10 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving that crispy exterior.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Baking Sheet - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. This will make for easy cleanup and help prevent the salmon from sticking.
  3. Step 3: Season the Salmon - In a small bowl, mix together the avocado oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and paprika. Place the salmon filets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down, and brush the oil mixture generously over each piece.
  4. Step 4: Broil the Salmon - Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler. Broil the salmon for about 6-8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the filets. Keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking. The salmon should flake easily with a fork when done.
  5. Step 5: Serve and Enjoy - Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve it warm with your favorite sides and enjoy a healthy, flavorful meal!

Notes

  • For a fresh kick, top with dill, parsley, or cilantro.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice over the salmon before serving for brightness.
  • Cook a larger batch for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
