Ingredients

For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Salmon:
  • 1-2 pounds salmon fillet no skin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnishing
  • 2 green onions chopped

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Sharp Knife

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures that your salmon cooks evenly and develops a beautiful glaze.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Glaze - In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, sweet chili sauce, lime juice, minced ginger, and minced garlic. Whisk these ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Prepare the Salmon - Line a baking sheet with a large piece of aluminum foil, allowing enough overhang to fold over the salmon later. Place the salmon fillet in the center of the foil and season it lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Step 4: Apply the Glaze - Pour the glaze generously over the salmon, making sure to coat it evenly. You can use a brush or the back of a spoon to spread it out if needed.
  5. Step 5: Fold the Foil - Carefully fold the sides of the foil over the salmon to create a sealed packet. This will help to steam the fish while it bakes, keeping it moist and tasty.
  6. Step 6: Bake the Salmon - Place the foil packet on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon. It’s done when it flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Step 7: Garnish and Serve - Once baked, carefully open the foil packet (watch out for steam!). Sprinkle the salmon with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for a pop of color and flavor. Serve hot, and enjoy your Asian Glazed Salmon in Foil!
